Marathon Man back to Broking
15 July 2010
Dry Cargo broker Charles Dixey has successfully completed the Gobi Marathon China, run over six days and 155 miles at the beginning of this month. He and three school friends set out to do something a little different from the London Marathon. It was certainly that. “Utterly exhausting”, was how he put it afterwards, especially the day on which they had to run 110 kilometres. One of his friends injured himself and was unable to complete the course. Charles suffered badly blistered feet and could hardly walk for a couple of days, but after a week’s R&R in Beijing returned to his broking desk at Clarksons none the worse. Would he tackle it again? “Probably not – well, maybe …” So far, he and his friends have raised £17,000 for charity and with donations still coming in hope to increase that to £25,000.
