Deep sea

From our five main centres - Geneva, Houston, London, New Delhi and Singapore - the deep sea chartering teams are involved in the transportation of crude oil and refined crude oil products worldwide. Our client portfolio is unequalled in its coverage of oil majors and producers, trading houses and shipowners.

The scale and geographical location of the various teams means we can largely access the world tanker market on a direct basis 24/7. At a time when freight markets demand ever greater expertise as well as a more specialised approach, we have the scope and experience to meet the industry’s most demanding requirements.

We handle all aspects of spot chartering (individual cargoes) and timecharter (longer term hire of vessels for periods ranging from a couple of months up to 15 years and occasionally longer). We are also involved in CoAs, or Contracts of Affreightment, which are a commitment on cargo supply by a charterer to an owner.

The sizes of tankers with which we deal range from 20,000dwt to ULCCs of 400,000 dwt plus. However, the majority of crude oil is moved on vessels of from 90,000dwt (Aframax) up to 320,000dwt (VLCCs). Refined crude oil products - including naphtha, jet fuel, gasoline, gasoil and fuel oil - are usually transported on tonnage ranging between 20,000dwt and 120,000dwt.

Our global approach allows us to cover every major crude oil load area, including the Arabian Gulf, West Africa, Mediterranean/Black Sea, Caribbean, Baltic and North Sea. The crude oil is then transported for discharge into refineries worldwide. Once refined, the products - both clean and dirty - can be shipped with even greater diversity worldwide, subject to fluctuations in the trading margins.
