Operations

Of crucial importance to Clarksons' shipbroking activities are the support teams of professionals who ensure the deal – whether a spot charter, a timecharter or a Contract of Affreightment – is carried out smoothly and reaches a successful conclusion.

Every office throughout the group have their operations teams, who serve as a back-up to the brokers and keep them advised that a fixture has been completed successfully or alert them to any difficulties that might have occurred.

There are Operations teams for Dry Cargo, Deep Sea, Specialised Products and Gas broking. Their responsibilities include checking on vessel itineraries; ensuring voyage instructions have been received and ETA notices given; making sure that if bills of lading are not available, letters of indemnity are issued to enable the ship to discharge her cargo; to checking invoices, freight and hire payments; and so on.

Since any delays to voyages or to cargo operations can prove costly, the teams are on call 24/7 to try to resolve any problems.
